Maximising Points: my exercise experiment

In my ongoing exploration of a health rewards program (which I'll refrain from naming directly), I delved into the realm of physical exercise to see how I could maximise my points. It was an experiment that shed light on the intricacies of earning rewards through daily activities. Join me as I recount my journey and the unexpected lessons learned along the way.


Discovering Point Categories: 

When I dived into the app, I discovered a plethora of point categories tied to physical activity. From the duration of activities to step counts and specific activity requirements like speed or heart rate, there seemed to be ample opportunities to earn points simply by staying active.


Initial Expectations vs. reality: 

Armed with enthusiasm, I embarked on a day of normal activities, expecting to rack up points across multiple categories. Much to my surprise however, the app revealed that only one category contributed to my points tally, while the others merely reflected in the app without tangible rewards.


Understanding the Limit: 

My disappointment peaked when I learned about the maximum points limit for physical activities. Despite ticking all the boxes for various activities in a single day, I soon realised that only 100 points of activities counted towards my total.


Impact on Motivation: 

Interestingly, this discovery had little impact on my motivation for exercise, as I've always been driven by a desire for overall well-being rather than point accumulation. However, it did prompt me to reassess my approach to earning rewards within the program's constraints. I imagine if you were using this app to motivate you because you aren't naturally inclined to exercise, it would have been a much more disappointing discovery...


Strategies for Maximising Points: 

I've realised that moving forward, I need to diversify my approach to earning points. Whether by exploring non-physical activities or simply exercising patience, I recognise the importance of adopting a multifaceted strategy to reach my goal of unlocking the coveted 50% off discounted flights.


Conclusion: 

As I continue to navigate the web of the rewards program, this day of activities was a valuable reminder that patience and perseverance are key. While the path to maximising points may present unexpected challenges, it also offers opportunities for growth and adaptation.
