Activated Nutrients' Build Up - Vanilla, plant-based protein: digestibly delicious, but does it deliver?

As an investor focused on health and wellness brands, I recently put Activated Nutrients' Build Up Vanilla Plant-Based Protein to the test. While I can't comment on its impact on muscle growth or recovery (it's hard to isolate single factors!), I can offer insights into its taste, digestibility, value, and potential market fit.

Digestive Enzyme Advantage: What initially drew me to Build Up was its inclusion of digestive enzymes. As someone who sometimes experiences bloating with other plant-based protein powders, this promised a smoother experience. Thankfully, digestion was indeed a non-issue, which, while not a "result," is certainly a positive outcome.

Flavour: Mildly plant-based, pleasantly palatable:

Compared to the rich, creamy taste of whey protein, Build Up is undeniably plant-based. However, it stands out within its category, offering a neutral, slightly sweet vanilla flavour that wasn't overly artificial or gritty.

I enjoyed it in smoothies and blended well with various fruits and vegetables.

Effectiveness: A "Wait and See" approach:

Unfortunately, the timeframe of my testing wasn't sufficient to assess claims of improved performance or recovery. However, the inclusion of sprouted and bio-fermented pea and sacha inchi protein suggests a commitment to nutrient bioavailability, which could prove beneficial over longer use.

Value Proposition: Moderately priced, but market sensitive:

Build Up sits in the mid-range when compared to other plant-based protein powders. While I wouldn't call it a steal, the increased cost of living and its unique enzyme blend might justify the price for some.

Target Audience: Vegans with sensitive guts?

Judging by the marketing and ingredient focus, Build Up likely targets vegan athletes or individuals with sensitive digestive systems. Its mild flavor and decent value could also appeal to health-conscious consumers seeking a plant-based protein option.

Investment potential: A niche opportunity?

Build Up offers a differentiating factor with its digestive enzymes, but the crowded plant-based protein market demands a clear value proposition. Further studies on its effectiveness and targeted marketing towards its core audience could solidify its niche and attract investor interest.

Conclusion: Build Up delivers on its promise of gentle digestion and offers a decent flavor within the plant-based category. Unsubstantiated claims and moderate pricing leave questions about its overall effectiveness and competitive edge.

For investors, Build Up might be an interesting player to watch, but further validation and strategic focus are needed before making a strong call.
